1. What is a web browser? A web browser is a software application that allows us to retrieve information off the Internet. Web browsers make pages show up and be displayed on our computers when they are launched.
2. List the most popular 4 web browsers currently? Which browser do you use? The four most popular web browsers are Internet explorer, FireFox, Google chrome, and safari. I currently use Internet explorer.
3. What does the term 'browser war' mean and what drives the competition between web browsers? What is the big deal in having the #1 browser? The term ‘browser war” means that competitors in computer software are competing for dominance in the computer marketplace. I think consumer demand and personal computer companies that are interested in installing software on their computers when they are sold to consumer’s drives the competition between web browsers. I think that the importance of having the #1 browser would be money. If a software company is dominating the competition the value of the company would increase.
What did I do?
I had to complete questions.
What did I learn?
I learned about Browser Wars.
How will I use it?
I think that it just helps to have the new knowledge to make better decisions.
ISTE NETS-T Standards
I think that the standards that this assignment most relates to is standard 2-A and 5-c. Within this standard it allows teachers to explore different digital tools and resources to encourage student learning. This assignment allowed us as students to explore different types of software available in hopes of expanding or developing our knowledge of digital tools. The second standard allows evaluation and reflection on emerging digital tools and resources.
