Tiny/Bitly

This is the original link before shortening.

 Link that I used

After shortening

What did I do?
With this assignment I was required to find a website that shorten URLs.   I used TinyURL to learn how to shorten URLs.  I simply found a URL that was very long and copied and pasted it into the website and pushed the button to shorten.
What did I learn?
I think that it’s important to know how to shorten URL links because sometimes they are very large and unmanageable.  They can be made to be much simpler.
How will I use it?
When sending links to others it sometimes gets broken down into short links and has to be put back together.  By shortening it allows me to use a shorten link that gets the same results as the larger one.  I think that there are services available to us so that our experiences when using computers and URL are easier for us.  I like when we are dealing with URL’s they look confusing and are sometimes hard to understand.

ISTE NETS-T Standards

The standard that is most related to this activity is 3-A and 3-C.  This standard allows me to demonstrate my current knowledge and apply it to something new that I have learned.  I didn't realize before this assignment that shortening URL was available or how useful it could be in sharing links.  The second standard allows me to use information to communicate in a more effective way to parents, students, and peers.
